Caldera is pleased and honored to announce its 2013 Artists in Residence.

After a rigorous and competitive application review, 17 diverse professional artists in visual, performing, and literary arts have been chosen for month-long residencies at Caldera.

Every winter from January through March,Caldera provides artists month-long residencies – the gift of time and space to create their work. Artists selected are given a private cottage and studio or workspace at Caldera’s Art Center at Blue Lake near Sisters.

Many 2013 Artists in Residents will also take advantage of the opportunity to share their work through workshops and presentations to Caldera youth in central Oregon and Portland and in the Sisters Schools.

Also this year, due to generous support from The Ford Family Foundation’s Golden Spot Award, Caldera is awarding The Ford Family Foundation Caldera Prize to five distinguished Oregon visual artists awarded residencies at Caldera. 2013 awardees are: Roger Peet, Portland; Craig Goodworth, Portland; Jeff Leake, Portland; Crystal Schenk, Portland; and Shelby Davis.

The Ford Family Foundation Caldera AiR Prizes are given to full-time Oregon artists over the age of 30 who have been active in their art form for the last seven years.

The opportunity to meet and see in person the work of Caldera residents exists each month of residencies with the Open Studios series. Caldera presents the work of its residents in a series of three Saturday events held at its Blue Lake Facility. Caldera’s Artist Open Studio series, which is free to the public, is planned for January 26, February 23, and March 23.
