BendFilm festival announces award winners

BendFilm festival announced the winners in 12 categories Saturday evening at an awards gala at the Oxford Hotel in downtown Bend. An after-party was held at the Astro Lounge.

The winning films and award amounts are listed below. Sunday is the final day of the festival, when winning films will be shown at The Tower Theatre and Regal Cinemas. The full schedule is available at www.bendfilm.org.

Best Student Short, $500, made possible by Dan Wieden for Caldera Arts, “Kiss Me,” Jules Nurrish, writer/director

Best Short, $500, “Far (Daddy)”, Per Dreyer, writer, director

Best Cinematography, (no cash award, “A Little Closer,” Matthew Petock, writer/director

Best Ensemble Cast (no cash award) ,”A Little Closer,” Matthew Petock, writer/director

Best Conservation Film (no cash award) “Watershed,” Marck Decena, writer/director

Best Documentary, $500 , made possible by Inde Women, “Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines,” Kristy Geuvara-Flanagan, director

Best Narrative, $60,000 Panavision feature camera rental package, made possible by Panavision, “A Little Closer,” Matthew Petock, writer/director

Best Directing, $500, made possible by Inde Women, “Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines,” Kristy Geuvara-Flanagan, director

Best Screenplay, $500, made possible by Inde Women, “It’s A Disaster,” Todd Berger, writer/director

Special Jury Prize, (no cash award), “Trash Dance,” Andrew Garrison, director

Katie Merritt Audience Award, $500, funded from ticket sales, “Ethel,” Mark Bailey, writer Rory Kennedy, director

Best of Show, $5000, Founding Sponsor of BendFilm, Brooks Resources Corporation, who has made this prize possible for each of the 9 years of BendFilm “Far (Daddy),” Per Dreyer, writer/director
