Shepherd’s House seeks holiday help
As most people start making preparations for family gatherings and a big Thanksgiving dinner, those who are homeless find that Thanksgiving Day is just another day of trying to survive. At The Shepherd’s House in Bend, there is a ray of hope in an otherwise difficult season.
Each day The Shepherd’s House the homeless can access a meal, clothing, hygiene items and other essentials. The Shepherd’s House provides over 24,000 meals per year and over 10,000 nights of shelter. The Shepherd’s House offers even more; a pathway out of homelessness through their nine-month to two-year recovery program.
” Thanksgiving can be an especially tough time for the homeless. They are cut off from family and struggling to survive. We try to provide a decent meal, clothing and most of all a friendly place where the homeless feel welcome. We need donations of food to make this happen. As you do your thanksgiving shopping, please consider picking up additional food items and bring them to The Shepherd’s House to help the homeless,” said Cash Lowe, Program Director at The Shepherd’s House.
The Shepherd’s House is seeking donations of food such as canned soups, boxed meals, fruits, vegetables, sandwiches and other easy to prepare food items. Food may be dropped off at The Shepherd’s House on Division street near Revere street. Financial donations can be made securely on-line at http://www.myshepherdshouse.org or mailed to P.O.
