Redmond Fire holds toy and food drive
People in Redmond know when they see the Redmond Fire and Rescue ladder truck with a banner on it at this time of the year, it can only mean one thing: It’s time for the Redmond Toy and Food Drive.
Redmond Fire and Rescue, along with the Salvation Army, have partnered for the drive.
Organizations, businesses and individuals donate to provide toys, canned food and a Christmas dinner for almost 600 families in Redmond.
For some of the families, they wouldn’t even have a Christmas if it weren’t for this drive.
“They’re grateful,” said Jade Ames, a volunteer with Redmond Fire and Rescue.”What’s great is they will come up to us and be like, hey you helped us out last year or the year before and here’s extra money, here’s some food to help everybody else, everyone is always more than giving.”
Last week, the volunteers were at Fred Meyers and raised $1,000, along with a big collection of food and toys.
Firefighters will continue to accept donations next weekend at Walmart and Fox’s Trees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You can also bring your donations to Redmond Fire and Rescue’s downtown station.
