Trail volunteer training sessions planned

KTVZ

Volunteers interested in registering for a annual training weekend focused on developing trail skills and certifying volunteers to do trail work on the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests are being asked to sign-up by April 30.

Every year the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests and the Pacific Crest Trail Association host weekend trainings, called Trail Skills Colleges, which certify volunteers to do trail work for the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests.

The sessions offered are designed to train both new and returning volunteers and allow volunteers to meet other interested people working to provide quality recreation experiences for forest visitors.

The training is free of charge and volunteers can attend the full weekend or only portions of the training if they want. Two location and date options are available:

Westfir : May 17-19, Westfir School, Westfir, OR.
Allingham: June 7-9, Allingham Guard Station near Camp Sherman, OR.

To get more information about the trainings, people can go to: http://www.highcascadesvolunteers.com/Training/SpringTraining.html

Registration for the trainings must be completed by April 30, 2013. To register for the trainings, people can visit the following site: http://www.highcascadesvolunteers.com/index.html.
