Fast arrest made in NE Bend coffee stand robbery
A 44-year-old transient walked up to a drive-up coffee stand in northeast Bend, threatened a worker and demanded money Friday evening, but he fled empty-handed when she called 911 and was arrested nearby less than five minutes later, officers said.
Police were called around 7:25 p.m. to the Dutch Bros. at 62077 NE 27 th Street, south of Highway 20, regarding a robbery that had just occurred, said Sgt. Kurt Koester.
A female employee said a man, later identified as Alexandr Ivanenko, had approached her, made threats and demanded money, then ran away as the employee called 911, Koester said.
Four minutes after the call, Koester said, officers found Ivanenko near the Pilot Butte Cinemas, across 27 th Street, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Ivanenko was taken to the Deschutes County Jail and booked on second- and third-degree robbery charges, along with menacing. Bail was set at $12,500, pending arraignment Monday afternoon.
