Fire destroys hay barn in Lone Pine
Crook County and other firefighters teamed up to douse a fire that destroyed a hay barn in the Lone Pine area east of Terrebonne Saturday night.
Crook County Fire & Rescue was called out around 8:30 p.m. on the reported barn fire on NW Lone Pine Road, officials said. They were joined crews from Redmond Fire & Rescue and the Bureau of Land Management, as well as a private water truck from the area.
Firefighters arrived to find the 20-by-80 foot, half-full hay barn fully involved, and the owners reportedly out of town.
Officials said the fire had spread to surrounding vegetation and burned two power poles, prompting a call for Central Electric Cooperative crews to disconnect the power.
No other structures were directly threatened by the fire, according to fire officials, who said crews quickly contained the blaze and got to work extinguishing the hay barn.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, they said.
