KTVZ

Oregon State University – Cascades is offering free counseling to community members through the university’s graduate counseling program.

The free counseling sessions will provide a community service and allow master’s students to develop and implement expertise under the close supervision of faculty and clinical supervisors.

Counseling services are provided by graduate students who are receiving supervision in a variety of counseling techniques. Student counselors are trained to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, depression and trauma. Participation in the free counseling requires completing an initial evaluation. Sessions will take place at the Graduate & Research Center in Bend and at the South Deschutes County Services Building in La Pine.

OSU-Cascades’ counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accrediting Counseling and Related Educational Programs. The program is recognized by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and the National Board of Certified Counselors as meeting requirements for state licensing and national certification.

Services are available to adolescents, adults and couples. The clinic also now offers trauma and reintegration counseling services for veterans and their families.
