Three Bend teens charged in home vandalism, car break-ins
Three Bend teens, ages 15 and 19, were arrested over the weekend on burglary and other charges, accused of vandalizing a northeast Bend home under construction, burning papers and urinating inside, and also with breaking into 21 cars, police said Monday.
Police responded around 11:30 a.m. to a reported burglary at a home being built at 3141 NE Delmas Street, south of Butler Market Road and east of 27 th Street, said Lt. Chris Carney.
Information gathered at the scene led to the arrest of Tanner William Chaney, 19, and two 15-year-old boys whose names were not released.
Carney said an investigation found that the three teens unlawfully entered a home under construction. While in the home, he said, they burned miscellaneous papers and urinated on the subfloor, causing damage.
The three suspects also admitted unlawfully entering 21 vehicles in northeast area of Bend, off Eagle Road Carney said.
Chaney was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail and one of the juveniles was lodged in the county’s juvenile detention center.
They are charged with second-degree counts of burglary, criminal mischief and theft, 21 counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, reckless burning and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. Bail was set at $65,000.
