Fire destroys travel-trailer home east of Bend

KTVZ

A fifth-wheel travel trailer being used as a home east of Bend was destroyed by a fire early Thursday, but no one was inside and firefighters kept it from spreading to other nearby buildings, officials said.

Homeowner Susan Wallace of 21865 Bear Creek Road noticed a glow out her window around 2:30 a.m. and went to investigate, finding the travel engulfed in flames, said Bend fire Battalion Chief Bill Boos.

Wallace called 911 to the scene, Boos said, noting that while Wallace’s daughter, Stephanie lives in the travel trailer, it was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

Crews said they arrived to find the fifth-wheel was a total loss.

Losses were estimated at $15,000 to the travel trailer and $12,00 to the contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
