Bend PD plans last pedestrian ‘sting’ of year

KTVZ

The Bend Police Department will conduct a Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, between the hours of 7:00 am and 11:00 am at Amity Creek Magnet School, 437 NW Wall Street.

This intersection was selected because of the active school zone. The Bend Police Department will be enforcing the school zone speed limit when the school zone limit is in effect during the scheduled operation, in addition to pedestrian safety violations.

The Bend Police Department would like to remind all drivers that since school has started, school zone speed limits will once again be enforced.

School zone speed limits vary from school to school, depending on the signage. Most school zone speed limits in the City of Bend are applicable on school days, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

When school is not in session. or when traveling through a school zone outside of the designated times, the regularly posted speed limit applies.

Funding for this PSE is made possible through a grant from Oregon Walks and Oregon Department of Transportation. For additional information, please contact Lieutenant Chris Carney at the Bend Police Department at 541-322-2978.
