C.O. credit union helps members hit by shutdown
Mid Oregon Credit Union responded Wednesday to a call from the National Credit Union Administration to help members who may be affected by a federal government shutdown that went into effect at midnight Monday.
Mid Oregon Credit Union is offering emergency assistance to members employed by the federal government to support those who may need short-term loans with flexibility in loan terms and payments or other financial services to cover income lost because of furloughs or payment disruptions.
Additionally, Mid Oregon may offer payment flexibility for existing loans to federal employees affected by any shutdown by skip payments or by penalty-free certificate withdrawals.
“We are here to help,” Mid Oregon Credit Union president and CEO Bill Anderson said. “If our members do experience furloughs we can provide assistance to help them navigate through this challenging time.”
Included in the tools Mid Oregon has in place to help members through the shutdown are their Free Financial Workshops that will help with money-management and how to manage credit and debt.
