The prescribed fire that was planned for Wednesday about 10 miles northwest of La Pine, in the vicinity of Round Mountain has been cancelled due to smoke concerns, the Deschutes National Forest announced.

Four other prescribed fires still were set to occur Wednesday in the following areas: 1) Metolius Basin Research Natural Area near Camp Sherman, 2) Seven miles southwest of Crescent, near the Two Rivers North and Cascade Estates subdivisions and Highway 58; 3) Fifteen miles northeast of Prineville near Wildcat Campground; and 4) Twelve miles northeast of Post, and 6 miles south of Big Summit Prairie

Plans to burn within the Lava Cast Forest, seven miles east of Sunriver and 12 miles southeast of Bend, near Company Butte and the intersection of China Hat Road (FS Road 18) and FS Road 1825 are still delayed due to smoke concerns, but may happen towards the end of the week.

Additionally, plans to burn up to 500 acres 15 miles south of Mitchell, and 2 miles east of Big Summit Prairie may also happen towards the end of this week or next week, officials said.
