Ill Prineville boy granted special birthday wish

KTVZ

A Prineville boy is getting his wish granted, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Five-year old Stryder Doescher suffers from Landau-Kleffner Syndrome, among a host of other ailments.

“He’s always smiling, always happy — you would never know that anything is wrong with him, ever,” said Stryder’s mom, Angela Doescher.

Stryder has silent seizures that can affect his cognitive skills. But Thursday afternoon, all that was put on hold.

“He’s looking forward to the Cars Adventure Land,” Doescher said. “That’s what his wish was, was to go there on his birthday.”

Stryder’s mom, dad and sisters will head to Disneyland next week, thanks to Make-A-Wish.

“He’s just so cute,” Wish Granter Carolyn Priborsky said. “He has just a little spark about him.”

Priborsky helped make the wish come true.

“This is the best part,” Priborsky said. “We get to meet with Stryder and his family, who is leaving next week for his wish.”

The energetic boy’s story has spread across Central Oregon, from the Prineville Police Department , whic helped raise money for a special seizure detecting dog, to the owner of Dillon’s Grill, who donated Thursday night’s pre-birthday dinner.

“It’s just really exciting, to be able to use our business and help out different people in the community especially people like Stryder,” owner Jim Roths said.

When the Doeschers get back from Disneyland, the very next day, Stryder and his mom are off to the East Coast for possible heart surgery.

The family is expected to get their trained seizure-detecting dog in January.
