City of Bend honored for budget

KTVZ

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has presented the City of Bend with the organization’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2013-2015 Biennial Budget.

In order to receive the honor, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the City’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

GFOA says the award “reflects the commitment of (the City) and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.” The City has received the budget award consistently for over 15 years.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving over 17,800 government finance professionals throughout North America. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program for governmental budgeting.
