Bend church back home, year after arson

KTVZ

Thursday marks the one-year anniversary of the fire at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bend, one in a string of apparent arson blazes that early March morning.

Since the fire, the church had been holding services at St. Francis of Assisi Historic Catholic Church, but recently moved back into their home building about a month ago.

On Sunday, they held another service at their rebuilt facility. Fr. Roy Green said it’s been an emotional time, but everyone is happy to be back.

“We’ve done a lot of processing, thinking, praying and wondering along the journey, but then it’s just wonderful to come back in your own space,” Green said.

Police have yet to identify any suspects from the fires that night.

NewsChannel 21 reporter Alicia Inns will have an in-depth story on the church on the day of the anniversary this Thursday that you won’t want to miss.
