Transient arrested after Redmond chase

A transient wanted for violating probation refused to pull over for Redmond police Sunday afternoon and led them on a brief chase, then stopped and ran but was captured and arrested, officers said.

Around 2:45 p.m., police tried to pull over a white 1992 Subaru station wagon being driven by Jason Darby Faherty, 31, in the area of NE 13 th Street and Negus Way, said Officer Robert Duff.

Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police responded to assist as the pursuit took place in a rural area on the northeast side of town, Duff said.

Eventually, he stopped, got out and tried to run away, but was caught with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine in his possession, the officer said.

Doherty was taken to the Deschutes County Jail and held without bail on two probation violations, as well as felon in possession of a restricted weapon and meth possession and delivery, according to jail records. Duff said he also will be charged with felony and misdemeanor attempt to elude, reckless driving and reckless endangering.
