Host home volunteers for teens needed
Cascade Youth & Family Center facilitates positive change for runaway and homeless teens in Deschutes County.
Our program provides emergency shelter and counseling, works to reunite youth with their families, strengthens family relationships, encourages stable living conditions for youth, and supports youth in choosing constructive courses of action, toward education completion and employment.
Over 3,500 hotline calls were received last year. These calls were from youth living with or without their parent or guardians, who were:
couch surfing, staying temporarily with friends or family;
living in an unsafe or unstable environment at home;
unable to resolve conflict with parents or guardians; and/or sleeping unsheltered, outside, in a car, or other places not meant for housing.
For many of these teens, a temporary safe place to stay is required in order to determine their next steps. This may include family mediation or working with a case manager to learn about options for education or employment.
CYFC provides a stipend and training to volunteers interested in opening their homes and their hearts to provide care for runaway and homeless teens ages 11 to 17 years old. Please call today to learn about the qualifications to become a host home for youth.
