Volunteers at the Franklin’s Corner Community Garden in Bend got their hands dirty at a work party Saturday.
They were digging up earth and soil to gill the beds and get them ready to grow.
The community garden is scheduled to open in the beginning of May. There is still plenty to do but Saturday’s event helped speed up the process.
According to city officials, the garden is about 95 percent complete.
“If anyone is interested, we still have available plots both the 4-by-8 and the 10-by-10 beds,” said Cheryl Howard, volunteer coordinator with the city. “We have some accessible beds for those with limited mobility that are also available.”
