Bend High School hosted the third annual TEDx Bend event Saturday, and it drew a huge, sold-out crowd.
About 1,400 people listened to 15 speakers and entertainers from all over the country, on topics ranging from outer space to inner happiness.
TEDx is designed to inspire, entertain and energize. This year, the audience included some special, invited guests — about 200 students and teachers from all over Central Oregon, and even a bus from Burns.
There are many TEDx events happening around the country. They all share one common theme.
“They are all local groups that are trying to bring the TED experience,” said TEDx Bend organizer Bruce Everson. “The question: ‘what’s an idea cool enough to share with your communities? To their communities — from their communities to their communities.'”
This year’s TEDx Bend sold out in record time. They’re hoping to grow TEDx Bend by having additional, smaller events throughout the year.
