Deschutes Co. hearing on code enforcement rules update

KTVZ

The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the Community Development Department’s Code Enforcement Policy and Procedures Manual update on Wednesday, August 27, at 10:00 a.m. at the Barnes/Sawyer Room (1300 NW Wall Street, Bend).

The mission of the County’s Code Enforcement Program is to protect the health and safety of the County’s residents and visitors, and the livability of the community, by assuring compliance with the County’s land use, environmental, construction and solid waste codes. The program focuses on voluntary compliance.

The existing Code Enforcement Policy and Procedures Manual was developed in the mid-1990s, adopted in 1996, and amended in 1997. The purpose of this review is to update the Manual to reflect current practices and revisit long-standing program policies such as requiring a signed complaint and an emphasis on voluntary compliance.

An electronic copy of the proposed Manual update is available on the internet at www.deschutes.org/cdd , and a hard copy of the document is available at the Community Development Department, 117 NW Lafayette Avenue, Bend.
