Stormy weather closes Mt. Bachelor
It’s prime-time summer season. But lately, Mother Nature doesn’t seem to care.
“This summer, there seems like there are a few more thunderstorms around,” Mt. Bachelor spokesman Drew Jackson said Thursday. “When the weather is nasty, we definitely take a hit.”
Blustery weather closed the resort on Thursday . Jackson said they made the call because of heavy rain, fog and chilly temperatures.
“We want to make sure when folks come up here they have a really pleasant experience, and we didn’t think we could offer that today ,” Jackson said.
He said such situations a couple times over the summer due to bad weather isn’t unusual, but lately Mt. Bachelor has had a least one brief closure nearly every day.
“Lately, the storms have been lasting longer and causing us a few more challenges,” Jackson said. “When it’s really stormy in town, sometimes we see fewer visits.”
Jackson said Mt. Bachelor should be up and running Friday as usual. To check the latest conditions, visit http://www.mtbachelor.com.
