Auditions set for Spotlight Chamber Players

High Desert Chamber Music announces auditions for Spotlight Chamber Players will be held on September 12-13.

This program was developed to provide a high level of chamber music instruction and is offered at no cost to the students selected. This program is devoted exclusively to the study and performance of chamber music skills and techniques. Auditions are open to violin, viola, cello, and bass students in grades 6-12 with three or more years of private study and intermediate to advanced levels of playing.

The recipients of this award will receive weekly chamber group instruction with Isabelle Senger, as well as individual and group instruction with select visiting artists from the HDCM Series. Attendance at HDCM performances isrequired and provided complimentary. Groups will be given the opportunity to perform at HDCM and SPOTLIGHT SERIES events, as well as taking part in a number of compensated performances in the community. A one season commitment is required, and placement and type of the ensemble will be determined after the audition process.

High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Now in its seventh season, HDCM has presented a broad range of chamber groups, ranging from string trios to piano quintets. In addition to the concert series is an Annual Benefit Gala which includes a performance, dinner, and silent auction. This will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014, 6:00pm at the Oxford Hotel.

HDCM Spotlight Series is a series of events dedicated to raising support for Educational Outreach efforts. These events are designed to complement the existing HDCM Concert Series. In keeping with the integrity of our mission to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon, past events have included solo recitals and documentary films.

HDCM 2014-2015 title sponsors include Mission Building, Michelle Mills Real Estate, Oxford Hotel, Hertz Car Sales of Bend, Tower Theatre Foundation, KQAK radio and KBNW Radio.

Also, High Desert Chamber Music will be participating in Downtown Bend’s First Friday Art Walk on September 5 th to celebrate their move into their new office. They will host an Open House from 5:30pm-7:30pm and feature photography by Stacie Muller of Creative Images of Life and Michael Wheeler. These images were taken from live performances in past seasons, and feature well known groups such as the Crown City String Quartet, the Catgut Trio, and Trio West.

The new HDCM office is on Brooks Street, in the stand-alone building adjacent to the Pine Tavern Restaurant and Looney Bean Coffee. The Spotlight Chamber Players will be performing works by Mozart, Bach, Gershwin, and Tchaikovsky. Wine and refreshments will be served, and visitors can get information about the new season. There will also be a drawing for two tickets to the opening night concert in September.

Through our concert series and educational outreach programs, we aspire to heighten a level of appreciation, awareness, and understanding of this great genre of classical music.
