KTVZ

A 76-year-old Junction City man was critically injured Thursday afternoon when his pickup truck left Highway 126 south of Santiam Pass and crashed into lava rocks, Oregon State Police said Friday.

Clifford Leroy Murr was flown to St. Charles Bend after the single-vehicle crash, reported shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday on Highway 126 south of the Highway 20 junction.

Murr’s 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup was heading east when it left the highway for what troopers called an “unconfirmed reason.” It went airborne before crashing into lava rocks, trapping him in the cab of the pickup.

Troopers are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.

OSP troopers from the Bend Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Trooper Aaron Roth is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District and ODOT.
