KTVZ

The Redmond Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) would like to announce two events coming up in October – October 8 th is International Bike/Walk to School Day and October 6-19 th is the Oregon Drive Less Challenge.

Did you know that children who walk or bike to school are more attentive learners in the classroom and are typically six months ahead of their peers? According to City surveys, residents want to make Redmond a safer place for children to walk and bike to school.

The Redmond BPAC invites parents and children to join us and students from around the country and world, in walking, bicycling or rolling (scooter, skateboard, etc.) to school on October 8th.

Then after, we would like to hear from you in identifying the safest routes to school. What did you like about the route? What would you need to see improved so that you feel comfortable with your child riding or walking to school on a daily basis?

To provide feedback, go to www.bikewalkrollredmond.com or call or email Heather Richards at 541-923-7756, heather.richards@ci.redmond.or.us. Help us make Redmond a safe community to ride and walk to school!

Save fuel! Save money! Get healthy! Reduce emissions! Take the 2 nd Annual Drive Less Challenge from October 6-19th. The State of Oregon and the Redmond BPAC challenge everyone to take at least one trip in this two-week period using a different means of getting around other than your vehicle: bike, walk, carpool take public transit, skateboard, scooter, etc. The goal is to eliminate one million miles in 14 days.
