Free film viewing supports suicide loss survivors
Although International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day was recognized on November 21, the Deschutes County Health Department is partnering with the Suicide Prevention Task Force to plan a special event this month.
This year’s November event included a screening of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s compelling new documentary, The Journey. This movie will be viewed at no cost to event attendees on December 15. The movie tells the stories of how each suicide survivor copes with the loss of a loved one, and how they are finding their way back to a life rich in meaning.
The Survivors of Suicide Loss movie viewing event will take place on Monday, December 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Bend Hospice (Partners in Care), 2075 NE Wyatt Court on Bend’s east side. Refreshments will be provided.
With the facilitation help of community supporter Carol Palmer, the film viewing event will also include a discussion session following the movie.
