The Pacific Northwest Region of the USDA Forest Service announced Tuesday it will be advertising over 600 temporary positions throughout the Region’s national forests in Oregon and Washington starting in January.

The positions will be in specialties such as fire, trails, timber, recreation, fisheries and archeology.

“If you are interested in working with a dedicated team of people who take pride in managing public lands, we invite you to consider joining the Forest Service,” said Regional Forester Jim Pea.

Applicants interested in these jobs will be able to apply through www.usajobs.gov.

Vacancy announcements for positions will be posted on the website in three different time periods. The first opportunity for candidates to apply will be for all temporary fire related positions and some jobs in trails, recreation, engineering, wildlife, timber, fisheries, and botany. Applications will be accepted for these positions Jan. 6-12, 2015.

The second round of applications will be accepted for all non-fire related positions not addressed in the January job announcement. Applications will be accepted for this round of hiring Feb. 4-10, 2015.

The third opportunity for applying for a temporary position will be in March 2015.
