Etnire chosen for Redmond School Board

TheRedmond School DistrictBoard of Directors has selected Rhonda Etnire of Redmond to the district’s five member governing board.

Four individuals were interviewed for the board vacancy at Wednesday’smeeting held at the district office. Candidates John Meyer, Rhonda Etnire, Tim Carpenter and Johnny Corbin each interviewed for 45 minutes. All candidates were askedidenticalinterview questions and weighted scores were assigned to each candidate’s response. The candidate with the highest weighted score was selected.

Etnire will be sworn in during the boardmeetingon January 28, 2015. Etnire has more than 23 years in retail management and is currently the storedirectorof the Redmond Fred Meyer. She actively volunteers at Obsidian Middle School, Vern Patrick Elementary School, the American Red Cross and isthe current chair for the Red Cross Youth Clubs.

“I am excited for the opportunity to represent our community on the Redmond School District board,” shared Etnire. “This is a great opportunity to invest in the lives of our future leaders.”

Etnire will fill the position previously held by Ron Munkres, who resigned from the board of directors on November 4, 2014. Etnire will serve from January 28, 2015 through June 30, 2015. She will have the opportunity to run for the remaining two years of Munkres’ termor for one of the other two board vacancies that will be availableduring the May election.

Losoya, Board Chair. “Although a very difficult decision, we are extremely excited to welcome Rhonda to the team! With her long history of retail management, she will bring a great leadership skillset. And with having school aged children, she is already actively involved in our schools. She will bring a different perspective and will strengthen our board as a result.”

The Redmond School District Board of Directors serve overlapping four-year terms as non-salaried trustees of the school district. As elected officials, the board is responsible for the scope, depth and quality of education and is the official policy-making body of the school district.
