Redmond man’s plea in deadly DUII crash delayed

A Redmond man accused of killing his stepdaughter in a drunken-driving crash will wait several more weeks before entering a plea to multiple charges, including manslaughter.

It’s the third time that 32-year-old William Fix’s plea hearing has been pushed back.

Deschutes County prosecutors says Fix drove drunk last September after leaving a birthday party at Pappy’s Pizzeria in Bend.

Police reports show that Fix had a blood alcohol level of .10 after he crashed his SUV on Highway 97 south of Redmond.

Seven-year-old Phoenix Price, Fix’s stepdaughter, died at the scene. Four other girls in the vehicle were also injured, two of them critically.

Phoenix’s family told NewsChannel 21 that both of the girls, 14-year-old Naomi Spansel and 10-year-old Olivia Jeanes, are recovering well and walking, although both are still in rehabilitation.

Fix’s defense attorney told NewsChannel 21 that he needs more time to go over evidence offered by the prosecution.

Fix is next scheduled to appear in court for a plea hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Friday,Jan. 30th.
