Duck race proceeds benefit Bethlehem Inn

KTVZ

Bethlehem Inn announced Friday it has received its allocation of proceeds from the 2014 Rotary Drake Park Duck Race. Bend Rotary Club donated $25,391 and Rotary Club of Greater Bend donated $10,866 in support of the Inn’s new Computer Lab program.

This new program, which launched in the fall, allows Inn staff to increase computer literacy for adult residents.

The intent is to teach men and women the rudimentary computing skills; such as, word processing/keyboarding, internet browsing and the use of email to help them seek/secure employment, housing and benefits.

At least 50% of the Inn’s adult residents lack the computer literacy to effectively access these online tools, the Inn plans to conduct regular classes on the use of computers and computing as critical tools for exploring and pursuing employment and housing options and benefits, etc.

The Bethlehem Inn is the only emergency shelter in Central and Eastern Oregon, providing shelter, clothing and support services to over 1,100 adults and children along with over 74,000 meals to those in crisis. Call 541.322.8768 or visit www.bethleheminn.org for more information.
