Bend police seek Valentine’s night ring thief
Bend police turned to the public for help Monday in finding a man who asked to view two rings at a jewelry store on Valentine’s Day, then walked out with them and ran away before police were called.
Police were called around 6:15 p.m. to the reported theft at Kay Jewelers, 3188 N. Highway 97 in the Bend River Promenade, said Lt. Nick Parker.
An investigation found the man entered the store and asked to view two rings. An employee let the customer hold the two rings while viewing them, but the man walked outside and fled before police were called.
There were no threatening statements or gestures made by the suspect, described as a white male adult in his mid-20s, with a medium build, darker hair and some facial hair, Parker said.
Anyone with information that could solve the crime was asked to contact Bend police through Deschutes County dispatchers at 541-693-6911.
