Lafky takes 1st, Smith 2nd in Western U-16 Super G

Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation alpine athlete Walter Lafky won the Super G Friday at the 2015 Western Region U16 Championships at Mt. Bachelor.

Walter has trained with MBSEF since 2008 starting in the MBSEF Mini World Cup Program and currently attends Summit High School. There were 82 men in his race.

Erin Smith, who also races for MBSEF, took second place in the women’s Super G and attends Summit High School. There were 89 women in her race.

The athletes that are racing in this championship are the top alpine racers (14-15 years old) in the Western part of the United States.

On Saturday, the Men’s GS and the Women’s SL will take place at Mt. Bachelor on Thunderbird. On Sunday, 22 the Women’s GS and the Men’s SL will also take place at the same location.
