Central Electric Co-Op marks Lineman Appreciation Day

KTVZ

Central Electric Cooperative is proud to join other electric cooperatives around in the nation in showing our appreciation for linemen through the observance of a formal day of recognition.

“These are the people who push through bad weather to make sure members have power,” says Bob McConnell, CEC director of Operations and Engineering. “Linemen work long shifts and in some storm events will work 24 hours a day for four or five days straight until all power has been restored.”

National Lineman Appreciation Day will take place this year on Monday, April 13. Last year, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association board of directors formally established the second Monday of each April as National Lineman Appreciation Day.

Why you might ask? NRECA says National Lineman appreciation day allows cooperatives across the nation to recognize the efforts of the men and women who help keep the lights on.

If you know or see linemen, make sure to thank them for all their hard work to keep the power on. Follow Central Electric’s celebrations on Facebook and Twitter.
