Redmond Parks looking at pickleball options

KTVZ

The City of Redmond wants pickleball and tennis enthusiasts along with all public interested in parks and recreation activities in Redmond to be aware of an upcoming Parks Committee meeting that will discuss pickleball options.

Pickleball is a fast growing sport and the existing facilities managed by the Parks Division does not meet the current and growing need. It is a goal of the City to provide a diverse, easily accessible park system that is responsive to the needs and desires of its citizens.

Existing funding levels do not allow for the construction of dedicated pickleball courts at this time, so interim options are being considered to meet the need until permanent facilities can be included in the development program.

The most prominent ideas that have been introduced by staff and the public include: dual striping some of the tennis courts at Sam Johnson Park and renovating Valley View tennis courts to serve pickleball exclusively.

The City invites all ideas and comments!
