Bethlehem Inn receives two grants

The Bethlehem Inn announced Thursday that it is has received funding from two foundations.

U.S. Bank Foundation awarded $3,500 in support of emergency shelter services for adults and children experiencing homelessness. Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation awarded the Inn $7,500 in support of the Families First Program.

The U.S. Bank Foundation funding will support the single adults and families that come to the Inn seeking emergency shelter, meals and case management services. Last year the Inn provided 796 adults and children with a warm, safe place to sleep, clothing, access to medical and dental care and nutritious meals.

The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation grant award will support the Inn’s Families First Program serving parents and their children experiencing homelessness in Central Oregon. The Bethlehem Inn has 5 units dedicated to parents and families in need of emergency shelter. Last year the Inn provided emergency shelter to 57 families. The average stay for each family is 30 days.

“We are honored and very excited to have been selected for this critical funding support from each of these foundations,” stated Gwenn Wysling, Executive Director of the Inn. “This funding will be dedicated to our case management services to ensure residents receive shelter, meals and connection with other local community partners.”
