City of Bend giving away smart irrigation controllers

KTVZ

The City of Bend WaterWise Program is once again highlighting the technological advancements in the irrigation industry that help conserve water.

For the second year, the City of Bend will be giving away five smart irrigation controllers – devices that automatically adjust watering schedules based on weather and other factors.

This year, the technology takes a major step forward. Smart irrigation controllers communicate and receive data through a home Wi-Fi connection and can be accessed by computer, smartphone or tablet.

The WaterWise Program will give away one controller each Friday in July, starting on Friday, July 3, 2015.

To enter into a random drawing to win a smart irrigation controller, comment on an official “Smart Irrigation Controller Giveaway” post on the City of Bend’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CityofBendOregon. Winners will be chosen randomly on Friday afternoons and will be announced by the following Mondays.

Only City of Bend water customers are eligible to win. Winners must have an underground irrigation system.

This year’s smart irrigation controller is the Rachio Iro. The Iro is made in the USA, Wi-Fi enabled, EPA WaterSense Certified, and completely programmable through a computer, smartphone or tablet. Wireless internet access is required. Learn more about the Rachio Iro at www.rachio.com.
