Crook County District Attorney Daina Vitolins was elected president of the Oregon District Attorneys Association at their annual business meeting on Dec. 2.

A long-time member of the ODAA, Vitolins will be the association’s first female president and will take office on January 1.

Founded in 1952, the ODAA is a voluntary association of the 36 district attorneys, deputy district attorneys, Oregon assistant attorneys general, district attorney office managers and the U.S. attorneys serving in Oregon.

The ODAA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a president, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president, secretary treasurer, 3 directors, and the immediate past president. The outgoing president is Bob Hermann, Washington County District Attorney.

“I’ve held all of the officer positions within the ODAA and am honored to have been elected [resident. I look forward to promoting the good work done by district attorneys in Oregon,” said Vitolins.

Mike McCabe, Crook County Judge, is proud of Vitolins and not surprised by her election.

“Daina is a natural leader here in Crook County. She respects and applies the law with honor and grace. We are lucky to have her,” said McCabe.

Vitolins has been the district attorney for Crook County since 2008. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the College of Idaho and is married to Rory O’Neill, who works for the Oregon Department of Justice.

The mission of the ODAA is to uphold the laws and Constitution of the State of Oregon and the United States Constitution, to preserve the safety of the public, to protect the rights of crime victims, and to pursue justice for all with skill, honor and integrity.
