Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list to open

Housing Works announced Friday that the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, formerly known as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 8 program, will open Monday, January 11th at 8 a.m. and stay open through Friday, Jan. 15, at 5 pm.

This program is open to low-income qualified residents of Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. Applicants must apply online at www.oregonhousingworks.org .

Upon request, Housing Works staff will provide technical assistance if clients need help filling out the online application.

“It’s important to note that anyone who is currently on the waiting list needs to reapply to the 2016 list. This is a yearly requirement,” said Patty Schouviller, Director of Housing & Resident Services at Housing Works.

The one-year waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program is organized, and clients are chosen, through a computerized lottery.
