One Bend man was killed and a second was hospitalized after a head-on crash on Highway 26 west of Warm Springs on Sunday night, Oregon State Police said Monday as they identified the victims.

The crash was reported around 8:20 p.m. near milepost 94, at a time when dense fog was reported in the area, said OSP Lt. Bill Fugate.

He said preliminary information indicates a 2007 Audi SUV was heading east on the highway when it crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2005 Scion head-on.

The Scion’s driver, Gregory Westley, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene, Fugate said. The Audi’s driver, Kion Pryce, 27, also of Bend, was taken to St,. Charles Madras for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released.

The crash and investigation shut the highway for a time and reduced it to one lane of travel for about three hours. He added that the crash investigation continues and more information will be released when available.

OSP was assisted by the Warm Springs Police Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
