BrightSide collecting coats for homeless animals

KTVZ

As we enjoy, or struggle, through this season’s cold weather, BrightSide Animal Center is organizing a Homeless Dog Coat Drive through Feb. 15.

Ruffwear Performance Dog Gear of Bend kicked off the coat drive with a donation of 26 dog coats and jackets of various sizes, including booties and harnesses.

BrightSide is encouraging the public to donate medium to extra-large sized dog jackets to BrightSide Animal Center for distribution to outside dogs who desperately need a warm break.

“BrightSide has an active pet food bank that is distributing pet food to the needy on an almost daily basis,” said BrightSide bookkeeper Pat Bowling. “In addition to food, donations of medium, large and extra-large sized dog coats are also being requested by those in need and the shelter supply cannot keep up.”

Dog coat donations are accepted at the BrightSide Animal Center shelter, 1355 NE Hemlock Avenue in Redmond, Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. BrightSide Animal Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, high-save animal shelter dedicated to finding homes for pets and to reducing pet homelessness with low-cost spay and neuter services.
