OSP: Five people hurt in Hwy. 97 crash N. of Terrebonne

Four adults and an infant were injured and flown or taken to area hospitals after a two-vehicle head-on crash Sunday evening on Highway 97 north of Terrebonne, Oregon State Police said.

Fortunately, contrary to initial reports, none of the injuries were life-threatening, according to OSP Lt. Bill Fugate.

Troopers said around 5:15 p.m., a 2006 Toyota RAV4 driven by John Thomas Scott, 22, of Gresham, was heading north near milepost 109 (Southwest Opal Lane) when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2006 Ford Escape driven by Austin Phillip Lingelbach, 32, of Portland.

Both front-seat passengers were flown by Life Flight and AirLink helicopters to St. Charles Bend with non-life-threatening injuries, Fugate said. A house supervisor said Chloe Charpentier, 20, of Gresham, and Jennifer Rask, 31, of Portland, were in fair condition at the hospital Monday afternoon.

The driver of the Ford Escape was taken by ambulance to St. Charles Bend with minor injuries, while the driver of the RAV4 and the young child were taken by ambulance to St. Charles Redmond, also with minor injuries, the lieutenant added.
