Drivers unhurt in crash of semi, 2 other vehicles that shut icy Hwy. 26 south of Mount Hood

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Three drivers escaped injury Saturday morning when a semi-truck driver hit a patch of ice and the rig jackknifed on Highway 26 south of Mount Hood, causing a crash that spilled about 300 gallons of fuel and closed the highway for several hours, Oregon State Police reported.
Troopers responded around 7:15 a.m. to the non-injury crash at milepost 64 involving a semi-truck, a flatbed tow truck and a pickup truck in the area of Clear Lake Campground
The semi was towing a loaded trailer and the driver headed east when he hit a patch of ice, causing the cab to hit the snowbank and the trailer to jackknife, OSP said.
A tow truck behind the semi crashed into the back of the trailer, OSP said. The driver of a westbound Dodge pickup truck and collided head-on with the rig.
Troopers said no violations were observed.
