SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — A man has been accused of stealing items from a memorial site dedicated to three children who were struck and killed by a pickup truck in Springfield.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/hGvaEU ) that the 35-year-old man is being held in the Springfield Municipal Jail on misdemeanor charges of abusing a memorial to the dead, theft, menacing and disorderly conduct.

Police arrested the man Sunday after he was confronted by several people who saw him throwing rocks and stealing items from the memorial for the children.

Police say the man was arrested last year for interrupting a candlelight vigil for the children.
