Russia-Ukraine war: Some key developments in the conflict

U.N. officials say 2 million people have fled Ukraine in the two weeks since Russia’s invasion as the humanitarian situation in the country’s besieged cities grew worse. In Mariupol, bodies lay uncollected in the streets and hopes for a mass-evacuation of civilians were dashed again. A Ukrainian government official says 5,000 people, including hundreds of foreign nationals, did manage to leave the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy through a humanitarian corridor Russia and Ukraine agreed to. They were driven by bus southwest to Poltava, Ukraine. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden announced a U.S. ban on Russian oil imports.
