WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin has announced his intention to support the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, pushing her one step closer to confirmation. Manchin has bucked the Biden administration on some of its top domestic priorities but has backed all of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees and said Friday he would continue to do so in the case of Jackson, who would become the first African-American woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Democrats can confirm Jackson on their own in the 50-50 Senate since Vice President Kamala Harris can cast the tiebreaking vote.
