Oregon Adaptive Sports hosts 10th ‘Heroes in Sisters’
Oregon Adaptive Sports is proud to host its 10th annual Heroes in Sisters, an annual weekend-long event designed to honor our Pacific Northwest veterans with physical disabilities and their families, for their services and sacrifices to our freedoms.
This one of a kind opportunity is designed to be a worry-free and fun-filled weekend over the weekend of Jan 20 – 22 is for each veteran and their families.
Each veteran will get to partake in adaptive alpine skiing or snowboarding at Hoodoo Ski Area. They will have the opportunity to learn more about the variety of specialized ski/snowboard equipment through formal instructional lessons provided by OAS instructors and volunteers.
This event is an all-expense paid weekend co-sponsored by Disabled Sports USA, United States Department of Veterans Affairs and is made possible by our partner, Hoodoo Ski Area and a number of sponsors who make monetary and in-kind donations. In addition, restaurants throughout the town of Sister are embracing our visiting veterans by providing discounted rates.
ABOUT OAS:
Oregon Adaptive Sports has been breaking barriers in Central Oregon since 1996, providing life-changing outdoor recreation experiences to individuals with disabilities. Participants gain confidence, build self-esteem and strive for independence leading to an enhanced quality of life. We currently offer instructional programs in alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding, at both Hoodoo and Mt. Bachelor ski resorts as well as summer programs such as golf, cycling and kayaking through throughout the great Bend area. To prevent cost from being a barrier to participation, we rely on the support of hundreds of volunteers, businesses, donors and sponsors.
