Bethlehem Inn gets $75,000 donation toward new building

KTVZ

Bethlehem Inn announced Monday a $75,000 donation from The Bend Foundation in support of their Transforming Lives Together Capital Campaign.

The Bend Foundation betters the lives of the Bend community through supporting educational and social welfare programs, arts and culture and preserving the environment. The foundation, established and funded by Brooks Scanlon, Brooks Resources and its shareholders, has a history of investing in capital campaigns of local organizations that demonstrate how they serve critical needs and impact lives in the community, the announcement said.

Barb Hess, director of human resources for Brooks Resources, commented, “This is a compelling opportunity and a story that impressed the trustees.

“There are many programs in Central Oregon, but Bethlehem Inn’s program is very unique, with its goal of setting people up for success and giving them the tools to move forward. Residents learn the necessary skills to connect with housing, education, employment and many other local resources that will take them to a brighter future.”

With nearly $4 million raised to date, this generous gift marks the largest donation thus far from a local foundation, the organization said.

“We are truly grateful for The Bend Foundation and their community support. We are very excited to be at this stage in the campaign,” saud Gwenn Wysling, Bethlehem Inn executive director said. “We now ask the community to join the foundations and individuals that have helped us reach this stage in the campaign, by making a donation that will help us achieve the final goal.”
