Redmond School District hires new athletic director

Kevin Bryant, currently associate principal and athletic director of Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, Wash., has been named Redmond School District’s new athletic director, Director of Operations Tony Pupo announced Wednes day .

“Kevin brings a great deal of experience in athletics and administration that I believe will move RSD athletics to the next level,” Pupo said. “I look forward to working with him to build upon already strong programs and finding opportunities for improvements to ensure our athletes have the best possible experience participating in high school athletics.”

“I’m excited to begin work as athletic director for the RSD,” Bryant said. “Redmond High and Ridgeview High boast competitive athletic programs and top notch facilities. The decision to move to beautiful Central Oregon and support the athletic programs for such a great district was an easy one.”

In addition to his current role as associate principal and athletic director at Hudson’s Bay High School, he has previously served as athletic director at the high school and college level, along with roles as high school assistant principal and college professor.

Bryant was named Oregon athletic director of the year in 2005 and received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) in 2007.

Bryant graduated from Western Washington University (WWU) with a degree in speech communication and went on to earn a Master of Education from WWU. He earned his Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) certification from the NIAAA. The CMAA is the highest national certification available for high school athletic administrators. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate from the University of Idaho, with focus in sport pedagogy and character education.

He will assume his new role July 1.
