(Update: Missing Bend man found, is OK)

Bend police confirmed Thursday that a man reported missing after failing to show up for work at a southeast Bend convenience store has been found and is OK.

Police confirmed Emil Johnson, 44, had been found and was alright.

In a statement, Lt. Clint Burleigh added, “We received a large amount of help from our community, and we are very thankful for our community.”

Police had turned to the public Wednesday night to help find Johnson, to check on his welfare.

Johnson last was seen at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday, leaving the Expressway Market and Deli, at Southeast 15 th Street and Reed Market Road, where he works, Burleigh said. He was riding his bike toward the south on 15 th Street, heading in the direction of his hone, about a mile to the south.

Johnson was scheduled to be at work early Wednesday to help open the store but did not show up at his scheduled time, Burleigh said. Family and friends had not heard from him.

Police officers and detectives spent several hours looking for Johnson, without success.

“We are asking the public to be on the lookout for Mr. Johnson so we can check his welfare,” Burleigh said in a news release.

Anyone who has seen Johnson or has information that might assist police regarding his whereabouts was asked to contact the Bend Police Department at 541-693-6911.
