Ochoco Natl. Forest timber sale to affect Road 16

KTVZ

The Maury R Salvage timber sale will begin operating Tuesday on the east side of the Maurys, on Forest Service Road 16 at Drake Creek on the Ochoco National Forest. Fire-damaged and roadside hazard trees, typically within 150 feet of the road, will be felled along Road 16 and side roads, about four miles above Elkhorn Campground.

The 16 Road is the only open public road affected by the sale. Log trucks will be on the road through July and brief delays may be expected along the road while trees are being harvested. The sale will proceed Mondays through Fridays, with weekend work possible.

Logging operations will include hand falling large diameter trees and mechanical felling. Orange safety signs will be in place at the sale area. Drivers should be aware of activity along the road.

The operation will have no impact on the campground, except for some possible road delays and noise.
